Another Summer season has come and gone, opening a window for the colors of fall. With the seasons changing and the leaves dropping, it’s still not too late to place an order for the upcoming Spring of 2018. Even though like the leaves our vine availability is becoming few in numbers, but if we don’t have the vines you are looking for we can still place an order for the Spring of 2019. As for now we will say this, may your harvest be pleasant, may your crop be even more so, and may your holidays be full of joy.

Phoenix

Phoenix was bred in Germany with the help of the European Union. Together they were able to classify Phoenix as a white Vitis Vinifera German Hybrid. It was selected for its disease resistance and fruit quality. This variety produces good sized berries in densely packed clusters. When ripe the grapes have a light Muscat aroma and an excellent flavor, making them ideal for eating fresh from the vine or for wine-making.

Phoenix is able to tolerate temperatures down to -7 degrees Fahrenheit. Flowers late May to early June. Ripens mid-season.

Originates from the Rhone region of France. Challenging grape to grow, especially susceptible to wind injury and powdery mildew. Ripens late, can achieve 25 brix. Primarily used for blending to add aromatics, elegance, acidity and aging potential.

Note: For deeper soils it is recommended to graft Roussanne on 3309. On the other hand for sites that have shallow, acidic, or granite soils it is recommened to graft Roussanne on 1103P.

Viognier Clone 1

Viognier can be a difficult grape to grow because it is prone to powdery mildew.  It has low and unpredictable yields and should be picked only when fully ripe . When picked too early, the grape fails to develop the full extent of its aromas and tastes. When picked too late, the grape produces wine that is oily and lacks perfume.
